Jonathon’s practice is focused on regulated and unregulated public utilities, pipelines, and other commercial practice areas. Jonathon has assisted and represented public utilities in an array of matters before the Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA), including tariff filings, applications, rate studies, cost of service studies, depreciation studies, formal and informal complaints, regulatory and informational dockets, adjudicatory litigation, and appellate practice.

Jonathon also has years of experience representing companies and nonprofit organizations as general counsel, assisting them with corporate organization and governance matters, contracts, real property and land use matters, mergers and acquisitions, labor and employment matters, Department of Revenue disputes and appeals, and other regulatory compliance matters with state and federal agencies.

Prior to his undergraduate coursework, Jonathon attended culinary school at the Le Cordon Bleu program in Portland, Oregon, and he still enjoys cooking for family and friends at every opportunity.

Jonathon decided he would live in Alaska after his first visit as a child, and over the years he never wavered. As a law student Jonathon clerked for an Anchorage law firm specializing in utilities law, Kemppel, Huffman & Ellis, P.C., and continued working there after graduation as an associate, and later as a shareholder. Jonathon joined Guess & Rudd as a shareholder in 2025.

Jonathon enjoys learning languages and speaks English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, and Italian. Jonathon and his family enjoy fishing, hunting, and exploring new adventures all over Alaska with their dogs whenever possible.
